mi primer día en españa

Okay, so here's what I have to say so far: I love Spain!!!

After a long day of flying and waiting for flights on Sunday, we finally arrived in Madrid at 8 am local time yesterday morning.  We had to wait about four hours for the bus to finally come and be reunited with our amazing group!  We were all a bit loopy from sleep deprivation sooo it was quite the interesting ride to the Plaza de Cervantes where we met our host moms.

Chelsey's and my host mom is named Pilar.  She lives alone in a cute apartment just a short walk from Alcalingua.  Thus far, we absolutely LOVE her.  She is so funny and nice and extremely patient with my inability to speak Spanish fluently!  Plus -- and this is the best news -- she has a friend that might be able to teach me the flamenco!!  How awesome is that??  That's like number one on my list of things to do while in Spain!  (Well, I actually don't have a list, but if I did, learning the flamenco would definitely be number one on it!)

After arriving, Chelsey and I unpacked and talked with Pilar for a little while, then ate a delicious almuerzo.  Finally, after being up for about 24 hours, Chelsey and I collapsed in our beds and took a glorious and much needed four hour nap.  We woke up for la cena at around 8:30 then went back to bed.  We were exhausted!

Anyways, so today Pilar showed us how to get to our school and the bank and then we met up with some friends for our group and wandered around Alcalå.  We found Carrefour, which is pretty much a Spanish Walmart, and just some really gorgeous buildings (I think most of them belong to la universidad).

It's been an exhausting but great two days!  I love most everything about Spain so far -- the weather (which has been glorious!), the fashions, the food, and the people!  The only thing I don't like is vosotros.  I probably should have studied that a bit more before coming out here....

Anyways, hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon!  I love Spain and I'm so excited to be here and I can't wait to see more of this beautiful country and tell you all about it!

¡Con mucho amor!
